NHS East Flatbush was formed in 1982 after the “Bank on Brooklyn” campaign, which protested decreasing lending in several Brooklyn neighborhoods, to meet the growing rehabilitation and revitalization needs of resident in East Flatbush Brooklyn. As an organization, we have always experienced strong neighborhood resident involvement, intensive housing-related educational seminars and an aggressive home improvement loan program. Today, NHS East Flatbush (NHSEF) continues to champion the cause of community revitalization through local outreach and partnerships, affordable housing development, affordable home improvement lending, foreclosure prevention counseling, first time homebuyer education and assistance, home maintenance training and homeowner education. Basically, we continue to provide educational, financial and technical assistance to Brooklyn residents.
